Official Inauguration from:
H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmad Muhammad bin - Fahad
MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT & WATER, UAE
|
Water has become the key commodity of the 21st century. A surge in population and the relative scarcity of water in the Middle East have made dealing with wastewater a high priority for regional governments. Successful urban growth is dependent on having effective and efficient sewerage networks in place. It is then necessary to have treatment plants able to deal with the capacity of wastewater being produced, and using the latest technologies to ensure that waste is minimised. Reuse can, however, lead to a number of environmental and public health concerns. Regulation and monitoring are essential to ensuring safe reuse.
WastewaterTech 2009 has been designed as a launch sister event to IQPC’s WaterTech 2009, taking one of the major issues with water in the Middle East and dealing with it in the depth it deserves.
The event agenda covers the major topics in addressing the challenges posed by wastewater, including:
- Water sustainability management
- Introducing regulation
- Building wastewater transport networks
- Designing treatment plants
- Dealing with capacity
- Reusing treated wastewater
- Protecting the environment and public health
